Husband, wife declared siblings by panchayat

It is the end of a marriage for a couple in Rohtak as the village panchayat has declared them as brother and sister.

The man and the woman belong to Haryana's two prominent 'Jat' clans and consider each other to be related by ties of blood. The wife, Kavita, however, says she will continue to live with her husband Satish. The couple also have a son.

According to the panchayat's ruling, Kavita will be her son's guardian and the boy will also inherit the property of his father. The man's family is still considering the panchayat's ruling.

Civilizations are the result of rules of clans/tribes...they have their rules which have ensured their survival for years...I am not sure how can we value judge, their thoughts, through the prism of moral high ground which we have been just taught. When there are occurances that are considered aberations and do not appeal to the sensitivities of the society, I would not say anything about the collective decision of the group...

Guess liberalisation has not reached this part of the country...still a lot of jobless people under the banyan tree arguing meaningless things...wish we had a time machine which could take them to pre-historic times....hope they would fit well there.
