Blast in Peshawar; three injured
Associated Press, Thursday November 26, 2009, Peshawar
A bomb exploded in the northwestern city of Peshawar on Thursday, injuring three people.
The bomb was detonated by remote control early in the morning and was apparently targeting a local police officer, police said.

The blast damaged a police vehicle and injured the police officer, his driver and a child who was passing by. The attack took place near a private school in a residential area of Peshawar.

The area in and around Peshawar has experienced a wave of attacks in recent weeks in apparent retaliation for a major anti-Taliban offensive in the South Waziristan tribal area.
