Bapu's item auction money to be donated
NDTV Correspondent, Friday March 27, 2009, New Delhi
American collector James Otis, who had put several items belonging to Mahatma Gandhi in an auction where they were bought by liquor baron and MP Vijay Mallya, is in India.

Speaking to NDTV, Otis said Mallya and he were coming up with a combined list of 'peaceful' organisations, which would be beneficiaries of the money generated in the auction.

Otis said he had got the Gandhi belongings from a member of the Mahatma's family, but couldn't disclose any more details as he was under a contractual obligation to maintain secrecy.
