In Kasergod
Thursday April 9, 2009 , India

How is it that we go to such small places and they are so rich in their political tradition, so rich with stories, that we feel we do not have enough time to tell them all?

When we were starting out and the Boss suggested we generate half hour material everyday from each of these small towns, I was a bit apprehensive. When we usually film for a half hour show, we take at least a week if not more. Here, we are producung it in just a few hours.

I guess we underestimated how interesting and beautiful India is, how we all have so much to learn from its land and its people. For instance, would I have found out that in Kasergod of Kerala most people are so evolved they speak at least 3 languages (Tullu, Malayali and Kannada) as it's a bordering town. Apart from this many speak English and Hindi as well. No wonder we do so well across the world as skilled immigrants.

By the way, Behen Mayawati has arrived in Kerala. BSP is fielding candidates in every constituency. More power to you, sister!

Well said about Kasaragod. It's one of the place where you can see the true colour of unity in diversity. Its my native and I am proud to be part of Pulikunnu village in Kasaragod district.

I was in Kasergod last Saturday to attend a cousin's marriage. She, a Marathi, was marrying into a Tulu speaking family, who live in Kerela, and are originally from Karnataka! Talk about multiculturalism!!
