Government's new anti-Naxal plan
NDTV Correspondent, Thursday October 8, 2009, New Delhi
The Cabinet Committee on Security has reportedly approved the government's new plan for countering Naxals.

Sources say police forces will form the first line of defence in different states.

The Centre's security forces will be called in only for special operations like evacuations.  The Centre will, however, coordinate operations in border areas between different states.

The Air force will be allowed to use only small arms to fire back in self-defence in rare cases. This is to ensure civilians are not caught in any cross-fire.

Speaking to NDTV earlier this week, the Air Force Chief had said that India's armed forces should not be used for internal security.

The present incidence of hijacking the Rajdhani express pointed out the fingeres towards TMC links with Naxalism. It would be very shameful for us that responsible political parties supporting naxalism for personal political benefits and it is kind of anti-national act.We have enough issues to do politics, and using naxalism and terrorism is shameful. Some where poor political will is responsible for growing naxalism and would creat a threat to national integrity. The whole drama of highjacking the rajdhani express is looking to be supported by few govt officials and there is need to have inquiery of the whole operatio. Thanks Vinod patil

The govertment of india has to think very seriously on this issue. Eventhough the last govt has worked successfully in many area but didn't do much in area of secuity. We should not late to tackele naxalism in light of growing tension between india and china. Naxalism in india has come out in big way and biggest threat to countrys economic developement and as well as to integrity. Its pitty that, previous govt ( Home ministry)has not warned the state govt to tackele it in any condition neither personally take anyaction to handle it.
