Delhi HC order on gays to help fight HIV

The Delhi High Court order decriminalising homosexuality will help fight the spread of HIV in India. But so far, gay men and transgenders have remained underground, afraid that they will be targetted under Section 377, which will make it difficult to reach out to them for HIV treatment.

Shopian case: Bodies to be exhumed

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has ordered the exhumation of the bodies of the two women, Nilofer and Asya, who were allegedly raped and murdered in Shopian on May 29-30. The court has also issued a series of strict orders on the Shopian case. The court has directed that no one including CRPF and police can leave Shopian without special permission of special investigation team constituted by police.

Bandh, curfew in Mysore

Communal tension showed no signs of let up in Mysore after two people were stabbed following a fresh wave of violence. A night curfew and a bandh were clamped in the city. With this, five persons have been stabbed since Thursday night and three others killed in violence, which erupted over the alleged desecration of a Madrasa.

Bandh in Mysore today

Security forces are on high alert in Mysore as a bandh has been called on Saturday to protest against the attack on a BJP youth leader. Night curfew has been clamped on Udayagiri till the July 8. State police and Rapid Action Force personnel are out in those areas of the district, which saw communal clashes over the past two days. Three people have died and five others have been injured in the frenzy of violence.
