Garment godown gutted in major fire
Press Trust of India, Friday April 16, 2010, Bangalore
A major fire swept through a godown of a leading garment exporter in Bangalore gutting huge quantities of cloth bundles in the wee hours of Friday.

But no casualties were reported as the incident took place at around 3.20 am and the godown of Gokaldas Exports Limited was closed, fire force officials said.

Over 30 fire tenders took almost four hours to put out the fire but the godown spread over an area of 8,000-10,000 sq. ft was fully gutted, they said.

Electrical short circuit was suspected to have caused the fire, officials said adding the loss which could be huge was yet to be estimated.
