It is unfortunate to see the poster boys of Capitalism like BJP, TDP, AIADMK lost and i know English language media has a reason to enjoy these results on again 'appointing' a Prime Minister. Socialism will not work for a country like India and moreover it will create more disparities in our society. People will become lazy by accepting freebies from political party like Congress and overall productivity will decrease. I beg your pardon that voting for a Congress party is voting for anti-capitalistic vision and killing of economy and bottom line is SUICIDAL result.

If there was any PM who can or could match the clean image of Manmohan, it was Vajpayee, he was above his parties dirty politics. Clearly the absence of Vajpayee shows the lack of clean leadership in the BJP

In the previous election,Under Sh.Vajpayai -the outgoing Prime Minister BJP lost-This time Both Mr.Adwani/Sh.Rajnath Singh both are responsible for the debacle-they could not kept their flock together-secular-nonsecular and communal is not the issue.BJP has been made communal-if NDA had edge over UPA Govt formation was not easy-for that time being liberal/moderate Vajpayai would have helped -he could have made Mr Adwani Prime Minister-during his Tenure-before resigning ;now no hope-but Mr modi is definitely future Prime Minister.

My cousin was a local goonda in his locality with no job. He was even booked for a murder which he says he did not do it intentionally. But the leaders of BJP helped him and now is an active member of their party. He is respected whereever he goes. Will Congress treat everyone equally ? BJP is the only party that people with bad past can look upto. So what if BJP does not care about muslims, sikkhs, jains or christians, it is the only party that treats hindus equally.

Indira Gandhi led India to nuclear test in 1974 at Pokhran and made sure that Pakistan did not do such test. AB Vajpayee led India to nuclear test in 1998 and encouraged Pakistan to do such test. Now Pakistan has stockpiles of nuclear arsenal and has become a headache for the whole world especially India. I wish AB Vajpayee had acted more smartly and pressurised Pakistan to not conduct the nuclear test. All their stolen nuclear technology would have gone useless, had they not tested it then. Now AlQaeda and Taliban are close to acquiring these nuclear weapons, and we could hardly do anything about it. People of this country are angry against AB Vajpayee, i think his absence has helped BJP. What has hurt BJP more is the fact that they are depending too much on religious sentiments.

this contry survived after the death of jawaharlalji, shastriji & indiraji. so why cant this survive after atalbihariji? bjp lost due to its mistakes, they might be missing Pramodji not atalji. now a days elections are not won but managed to cheat the people.

When Uma Bharathy, who sincerely reesigned from CM post to face Charges was cleared by the Court, she should have been reinstated as MP Chief Minister. From then on started the downfall.Nobody is above law and above criticism. That incident started the downfall of BJP image.Top leaders should praise such personality and go with them for the party`s image.Even she met Mr Vajpayee and even he could not reinstate Ms Uma Barathy as CM means the worst infighting within BJP.They also made a wrong choice -Scindia should have been the CM of MP-her Home State and Uma Bharathy made as CM of Rajasthan. They should think of these root causes and correction made from grassroot level.

Vajpaijee is a Mahaan Admi of Hindustan. Only a common man with best attributes is comparable to him. I am now convinced that India of 2047 will also face similar problems of Roti, Kapada and Makan besides illiteracy unless leaders are made to work.

there may be many capable leaders in bjp but winning elections is not just good leaders. connect with people is very critical in india and no bjp leader is able to do it currently. leaders who have won in different states like biju, mamta, nitish, karuna, ysr, chauhan, maya etc have a deep connect with people in their respective states and people have voted for them due to that connect and good work done by most of them. at a national level it is rahul who has been able to connect with masses all across and cong has gained a lot out of this.on the contrary bjp has not been able to do any thing of this sort in last 5 yrs and their party will not make any major turn around in coming years also if something of this sort happens. raising some issues once a while will give temporary gains and not long term.

The people who even bring this as an excuse for BJPs defeat is humiliating the L K Advani.
Vajpayee has his time but lets not forget it was Advani's infamous Rath Yatra that made BJP relevant in national politics
Unfortunate there were more then couple factors that went against BJP, like Modi's & Varun's speeches and some infighting in BJP.
In addition few things did went ve for UPA and the end result we know it all

I think people simply did not like the person(LK Advani) who does not even know how to speak.Nikkma, Nalayak, these were the words he was using for Prime minister MMS.What a common man expect from that guy. I wonder What language he could be using for common man behind the curtains.

I feel BJP should stop talking about Ram mandir (where they will build it and how they will build it etc), Ram Seth etc and keep religious issues totally out of the debates and issues. They should instead focus only on what they will do in terms of increasing education levels, poverty alleviation measures for the poor and other developmental activities. Only development should be the focus. Rest all is nonsense talk and should be avoided. Religion and politics should not be mixed at all.
BJP also needs to focus on leaders in the age group of 50 to 60 and turn all other elder leaders into consultants and not contestants.
BJP should also not give tickets to criminals.
Hate talk by leaders like Varun Gandhi and Narendra Modi will cause downfall of BJP.
In the end moderate BJP will win and hardline BJP will.

To stop internal quarrels immediatly, to provide united unilateral policy for the poors & and also for the minorities. To behave like a real hindu, who realy mentain the communal harmony for each & every religion. love is only weapon & patience is only strength for modern science.Mr. Arun jaitley is my optional choice for next Parliamentary Leader. The results of Indian parliament general election 2009 proovs that peoples are not allowing to elect any disturbing polical parties like left front/B.S.P/S.P./R.J.D.and others. Hence there is a huge political ground lying ready to cultivate for B.J.P & I.N.C. also. The only need of indian people is.... save the poors, farmers, labours etc. & that should be done in such a sobre way which can be defeat all the political enemies. Our ex. president Mr. A.B.A. Kalam may be treat as an example.Hence now our only mantra is one line from Kabiguru Rabindra Nath Tagore : Jodi tor dak Sune keu na aase tabe ekla cholo re, ( Agar tumahara Pukar kisike kan me na aei, to akela cholo re )
Thanks, jai hind,
Bande Mataram,

BJP should base its policy on Econmomy and not hatredness. There are too many people with a narrow mentality in the party, it is about time that these people are purged out and bring india forward as a strong superpower.

Going by BJP's pre poll statements absolutely NO. When Mr. Modi's name came up as a likely PM from BJP along with advani, they came out with the statements that BJP has no dearth of leaders. Now it is shame on their part to tell that the absence of Mr. Vajpaee made the difference.

The outcome of elections 2009 has not come as a surprise. I knew it all along.Given below are some of the key factors responsible for the BJPs plight:
1. Over the years, BJP has transformed into a "TOP HEAVY PARTY" UNFORTUNATELY, the party is a collection of Leaders wihout followers. The Congress on the other hand is a party with No Leaders, only mute followers clinging to the one leader formula.
2. The BJP has been singled out as Communal by the political system. Why then is the BJP not accepting the ground reality? They only need to change their stance from HINDUTVA to HINDUSTAN and go to the people. Stand for Hindustan as one for all with no caste/Relegious devides.
3. Take it for granted that Ideologies do not fetch votes. Organizational unity is the key factor. As they say" Too many cooks spoil the Broth" so is the case with the BJP.
4. Get out of the NDA image, the earlier they do the better it will be for the party.

BJP should abandon caste based politics and take up ordinary people problems like price rise, unemployment, infrastructure etc.in order to become a viable alternative to congress.
Posted by R.Praksh on May 21, 2009
Yes,to an extent. But the BJP failed to highlight the failures of the govt clearly and could not provide a better vision of India if voted to power. Its time that Leaders like Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj are given the responsibility of leading the Party.

Yes AB Vajpayee's absence did affect the BJP performance in this poll. Mr. Vajpayee's inclusive & liberal ideology was much more acceptable to the people along with his pro development agenda. BJP should look towards projecting the developmental aspect of Indian economy & the liberal ideas of Mr. Vajpayee as their future poll manifesto.A great leader of Mr. Vajpayee's stature is really required for the BJP now

i dont fully agree with this statement. ABV is definitely a stature leader and one of the best prime minister we had. a person of ultimate persona and squeaky clean reputation. But BJP lost out not because of absence of ABV , but clearly the lack of dimensions BJP had in past. No clear policy definition, rather than telling us what they intend to do talking about rivals did it for us. as far as BJP is concerned , it is clearly denoted in these elections, we dont want to be segregated as a hindu, muslim, sikh or any other religion.
The only lesson i want BJP to learn is Please for heavens sake think about new issues and tell us what you realy want to do. not ram mandir , bofors or any other ghost of the past.
by the way Bravo LK Advani. U truly are a good leader , since you have retained your position as leader of the party.
