Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Monday that there is credible information of ongoing plans being hatched by terror groups in Pakistan to carry out fresh attacks in India.

The Prime Minister was addressing a meeting of chief ministers of states on Monday to review internal security of the country.

He said that the government's top agenda are steps taken to enhance the capability of security forces to meet any challenges, terrorist threats or attacks.

The Prime Minister said that a well-calibrated coastal security scheme is being put in place. He also said the Left wing extremism a serious challenge

"After Mumbai attacks, we have put in place additional measures. There is need for continued utmost vigilance," Singh said, stressing that India needed to do more and would do more.

Referring to Naxal problems within, the Prime Minister said the Left wing extremism too was a serious challenge.

"Will hold separate meet of Governor & CMs of Naxal affected states later today," the PM said.

"We will talk, act and restore order."

The Prime Minister requested all states to extend all cooperation to the newly-established
National Investigative Agency (NIA).

"I regret I cannot report much progress in Northeast," the Prime Minster said, adding: "In Northeast, insurgency remains a great threat. We have refined our policy stand, ceasefire agreements have to be followed in letter & spirit."

Pakistan reacts to PM's remark: Pakistan on Monday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's remarks about terror groups planning fresh attacks on India from Pakistani soil were uncalled for as the two countries were progressing towards better relations.

"I think (Singh's) statement was uncalled for and it would have been better if he had not made such a statement because Pakistan and India are moving towards better relations, especially after the meetings (between the Indian premier and President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani)," Minister of State for Information Sumsam Ali Bukhari said.

"As Pakistanis, we would not want any problems to occur anywhere. We are ourselves victims of terrorism," Bukhari told reporters in this southern port city in response to a question about Singh's remarks.

Pakistan wants to work with the world in tackling terrorism and militancy, he said.

"Whether it is our neighbours or distant countries, we want peace in the whole world. Islam is a religion of peace and gives a message of peace," he added. (PTI)

AGREED..... "That Islam is a religion of peace and gives a message of peace". But the maximum number of terrorist follow Islam. So is there something in Islam that provokes people to kill other innocent people and disrupt the peace, OR is the teaching of Islam incomplete to groom the individuals properly. I don't think so that Islam is wrong. But it is groups like ISI that give birth to terrorists. Why do we see protests and fightings emerging where the muslim domination is more. Why is the middle-east (muslim dominated region) so unstable. Why only Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and pakistan have terrorists being born there. The violent ways of terrorists are not going to achieve anything in the world but unrest. I know that nobody is born a terrorist, but events in their life make them terrorists. Corrupt and evil men in these muslim countries use these events to brain-wash the innocent muslims to become terrorists.

This is the same gentleman who hugged Gilani under US and Sonia pressure with a view to disassociate talks from terrorist attacks plotted by Pakis. So now why is he whining? If you dont have the courage to confront the enemy during bilateral talks then you should have the guts to frighten him by your power. This government is doing neither. Why always go for the defensive and utter the same nonsense that talks are the only solution with Pak. This is utterly ridiculous and speaks of cowardice even when more than a billion of Indians are asking to take some drastic steps against this pest called Pakistan. And the congresswallas all supported Manmohan when he stood up to defend his actions in the Lok Sabha. It is really unfortunate to belong to this country of chakkas and that too being led by a lady of foriegn origin.
