Two persons allegedly belonging to Maoist-backed 'Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha' were killed, when police opened fire to prevent them from looting arms from a police station in Orissa's Koraput district on Friday.

"Two persons were killed, when they attempted to loot guns after attacking the Nayaranpatna police station," Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Southern Range, Sanjeev Panda said.

Another person was injured in the attack, he said adding that reinforcements were sent to Narayanpatna area.

The Maoist-backed Sangha has been forcibly capturing land, attacking people and blocking roads in Koraput district, the police said.
