Foolproof security for C'wealth Games: Chidambaram
NDTV Correspondent, Monday September 7, 2009, New Delhi

Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that NSG security for politicians and other VIPs will continue.

Speaking exclusively to NDTV on the show The Buck Stops Here, the minister said that threats to some leaders could not be underestimated and he had to respect the views voiced in Parliament.

Chidambaram also spoke about several other issues, including India's preparations for the Commonwealth Games next year. He said there would be foolproof security for the Games in New Delhi.

The minister had made a strong statement recently at the World Badminton Championship in Hyderabad by sitting with the crowds at the stadium to watch the finals without any elaborate security cover. It was his way of replying to the England team pulling out of the tournament at the last minute citing a terror threat.

Watch the entire interview on Monday at 10 pm.

1. It is very unfortunate that the home minister after 50 Years of so called independence can only see the threat to life's of so called VIP/ VVIP's whereas threat to the lives of common man remains ignored, inspite of the available database/ facts on deaths due to terrorist activities caused to common man versus a VIP/VVIP. 2. The ex- chequers money is being miss used by the so called VVIP's for themselves and there near ones (previlaged lot), when INDIA sleeps hungry, shattered by woonds of terrorism every day. 3.It is time that such decisions are not taken by some people who make rules as per there convinence. All major decisions must have the concent of INDIA or else the history will repeat it self
