Aamir, Rahman, Saif, Sehwag to get Padma awards

On the occasion of 60th Republic Day, the government has announced the names of Padma award winners. (Read: Full list of awardees)

Yesteryear Bollywood diva Rekha, Ms Anu Aga, hockey national Ignace Tirkey, Formula 1 driver Narayan Karthikeyan, badminton star Saina Nehwal and Sachin Tendulkar's guru Ramakant Achrekar have been included in the Padma Shri list.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and film music maestros A R Rahman, Ilaiyaaraa Raja and noted cadiac surgeon Dr Ramakant Panda have been chosen for Padma Bhushan. (Read: Aamir remembers mom's smiling face on getting Padam Bhushan)

Cricketer Virendra Sehwag and Badminton star Saina Nehwal have been chosen for the Padma Shri awards along with yesteryear Bollywood diva Rekha and actor Saif Ali Khan.

Highly-placed sources said that eminent theatre and film personality Zohra Sehgal is also likely to be given Padma Shri.

Forty four-year-old Aamir Khan, who made his directorial debut with the critically-acclaimed Taare Zameen Par in 2007, recently came out with 3 Idiots that has become the highest-earning movie in Bollywood.

NDTV founder Pranav Roy too deserve Padma Bhusan for his contribution of tracking the issue of National interest/Public interest like save the tiger and green revolution above all for making Ndtv an populer international channel.
