Drunk woman driver kills two in Mumbai

Mumbai's Marine Drive became the scene of a horrific midnight accident on Friday. A drunk woman driver hit her SUV into six people at a police check post. A biker who had been pulled over for a breathanalyzer test died immediately.

A policeman, PSI Dinanath Shinde died on Saturday morning in hospital. Four other policemen have been injured and are in the Bombay Hospital.
 
The crash took place near Parsi Dairy on Marine Drive. 
 
The woman driver has been identified as 27-year-old Nooriya Yusuf Haweliwala. She has been sent to police custody till February 5.

She is a beautician and lives with her family in Colaba.

It's now confirmed that the test conducted on her has found 457 ml of alcohol, which is way over the permissible limit of 50 ml.

The police have slapped several charges against her including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Other charges include causing death by negligent driving.

"The car rammed into a taxi and the police personnel who were a part of the drive against drunken driving as well as a member of the general public were hit. They have been admitted to a hospital. The driver of the car has been apprehended," said ACP Tadankar.

I hope there wont be any gender biased laws here to protect that lady who killed 2 innocent people. In fact 2/3 or her accumulated income should be given to the 2 innocent victims.
