About Jajpur

Jajpur Lok Sabha constituency will go to polls on April 29 in the fourth phase of 2019 general election. Jajpur lok sabha constituency consists of Binjharpur, Bari, Barachana, Dharmasala, Jajpur, Korei and Sukinda assembly seats. The Binjharpur assembly seat is reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste category.

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) forte' Jajpur witnessed 75.31% voter turnout in the 16th Lok Sabha polls. 8655 votes in this constituency were given under NOTA option, last time.

The BJD party is fielding Sarmistha Sethi as its MP candidate instead of the sitting MP Rita Tarai. Ms Tarai had defeated Congress' Asok Das by a margin of 320271 votes. The margin with which BJD won the seat was more than the number of votes received by the Congress party. Manas Jena is contesting for the Jajpur seat with a Congress ticket.

BJP has given ticket to Amiya Kanta Mallick for the Jajpur seat.

Among other contenders are Tilottama Sethy (Proutist Bloc, India), Bhima Sen Behera (Freethought Party of India), Ranjit Malik (Bahujan Mukti Party), Sunakar Behera (Jai Prakash Janata Dal) and Subasa Chandra Malik (SUCI-Communist).

The seven-phase Lok Sabha polls will conclude on May 19. The poll results will be announced on May 23.

Jajpur will vote along with Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur constituencies in the fourth phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
