In 2014, Ladu Kishore Swain of the Biju Janta Dal or BJD won the Lok Sabha elections from the Aska Lok Sabha constituency. The BJD candidate had polled 5,41,473 votes, while the runner-up from the Congress, Srilokanath Ratha, secured 2,29,476 votes. Mr Swain defeated the Congress candidate by a margin of 3,11,997 votes.

Ladu Kishore Swain died in February 2019.

In the year 1977 and 1980, the seat was won by Congress MP Rama Chandra Rath. Congress candidate Som Nath Rath, won the seat in 1984. In 1989, Ananta Narayan Singh Deo of Janta Dal won the Lok Sabha elections. Congress candidate Rama Chandra Nath won the elections in 1991.

In 1996, late former chief minister of Odisha, Biju Patnaik won the elections from Aska Lok Sabha constituency. In 1997 by-polls which was held after the death of Biju Patanaik, and also on 1998 and 1999, his son Naveen Patanaik contested from Aska constituency and won the elections.

In 2000 by-polls, Kumudini Patnaik of BJD was elected from this constituency. In 2004 and 2009, Hari Har Swain and Nityananda Pradhan (both are BJD) won the seat respectively.

In 2019 general elections, Pramila Bisoyi of the BJD, Anita Subhadarshini of the BJP and Purna Chandra Nayak of the BSP are main candidates who are contesting from this constituency.

The Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in the Aska constituency of Odisha was held on April 18, 2019. The 2019 elections happened during the second phase. Aska Lok Saha constituency is one of the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.
