In the General Elections of 2014, Bhartruhari Mahtab from Biju Janata Dal won the Cuttack Lok Sabha Constituency. He received 5,26,085 votes. Aparajita Mohanty from Indian National Congress was his closest opponent. She received 2,19,323 votes. 

In the General Elections of 2009, Bhartruhari Mahtab from Biju Janata Dal won the Cuttack Lok Sabha seat. He received 4,65,089 votes. His closest opponent was Bibhuti Bhusan Mishra from Indian National Congress. He won 2,28,797 votes. 

In 1971, Janaki Ballabh Patnaik from Congress won the Cuttack Lok Sabha Constituency seat. In 1977, Sarat Kumar Kar from Janata Party won the seat from the Cuttack Constituency. In 1980, Janaki Ballabh Patnaik from Congress won the Cuttack seat. In 1981, after the by-poll elections, Jayanti Patnaik from Congress won the seat. 

In 1984, Jayanti Patnaik from Congress was re-elected as the Member of Parliament from the Cuttack Lok Sabha Constituency. In 1989 and 1991, Srikant Jena from Janata Dal won the Cuttack seat. 

In 1996, Anadi Sahu from Indian National Congress won the Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency seat. After the by-poll elections, Biju Patnaik from the Janata Dal won the seat. 

From 1998 to 2014, Bhartruhari Mahtab from Biju Janata Dal Party had had a stronghold over the Cuttack Lok Sabha Constituency. 

In the General Elections of 2019 Shri Prakash Mishra from Bharatiya Janata Party, Bhartruhari Mahtab from Biju Janata Dal, Pramod Kumar Mallick from Bahujan Samaj Party and Panchanan Kanungo from the Indian National Congress contested from Cuttack.

After delimitation in 2008, assembly segments in the Cuttack Lok Sabha Constituency include Baramba, Banki, Athagarh, Barabati-Cuttack, Choudwar-Cuttack, Cuttack Sadar and Khandapada.
