For the General Elections of 2014 in the Puri Lok Sabha Constituency, Pinaki Misra from Biju Janata Dal won seat with 5,23,161 votes. His closest opponent was Sucharita Mohanty from Indian National Congress. She received 2,59,800 constituencies. 

For the 2009 General Elections, Pinaki Misra from BJD won the Puri Constituency. He received 4,36,961 votes. His closest opponent was Debendra Nath Mansingh. He received 2,25,656. 

In 1971 General Elections, Banamail Patnaik from Indian National Congress won the Puri Lok Sabha seat. In 1977 Elections, Padmacharan Samantasinghar from Janata Party won the Puri Lok Constituency seat. 

In 1980 and 1984 General Elections, Brajmohan Mohanty from Indian National Congress won the seat from Puri Lok Sabha Constituency. In 1989, Nilamani Routray from Janata Dal was elected.

From 1998 to 2004 General Elections, Puri Lok Sabha Constituency was with Braja Kishore Tripathy from Biju Janata Dal. 

For the 2019 General Elections, the contesting candidates include Nrusingha Charan Das from Bahujan Samaj Party, Pinaki Misra from Biju Janata Dal, Satya Prakash Nayak from Indian National Congress, Dr. Sambit Patra from Bharatiya Janata Party, Jayaprakash Sethi from Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, Mandakini Sethi from the Communist Party of Indian (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation), Ranjan Misra from Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Red Star, and Sabyasachi Mohapatra from Kalinga Sena.
