Thank God becos neither Raj Thakrey is Mumbai nor Mumbai is Raj Thakrey. In fact it is exactly the opposite. Whenever Mumbaikars need express help in case of any calamty Raj Thakrey goes into hiding and resurfaces only when everything is smooth sailing again, only to create turmoil. So Raj Thakrey is the last person that Karan Johar should have apologised to.

Reading all comments I just like to state by saying sorry it does not make Karan small or Raj Thakre tall. Specially the so called Big n Famous have to be very careful in their selection of words. They must not allow any one to raise even eyebrow let aside raising fingers. They need to be careful. Bombay was convenient for Britishers Mumbai sounds more of Indian name. What is so big fuss to pronounce the correct name. Guys come out of the Colonial era. Be Indian. Mumbai is the great Jay Hind.

While it is true that every city should be referred to by its official name, Karan Johar should not have felt the need to apologise to Raj Thackrey for two reasons.Firstly Raj Thackrey neither owns Mumbai nor is he synonymous with the city. Secondly referring to Mumbai as Bombay is a very minor issue when juxtopposed against what Raj Thackrey and his goons indulged in under the garb of protecting the interests of marathi manoos.

Bombay or Mumbai is same meaning but respect supreme court verdict to call Mumbai in the history its Bombay but forget it and accept present time what its going to exist bollywood person always do thing in different way to be in media or publicity that is drama to come in media. He should say sorry to all Mumbai people not only to raj

India is a Democratic country, everyone has got the right to express his or her thoughts and expression and here, it is ridiculous to see karan to apologize. Mumbai was initially called Mumbai, whats there to quarrel? even Raj Thakrey's kids are in a school named Bombay and not Mumbai. Shame on u Mr.Raj Thakrey

I think if anyone knows what is Mumbai and history of Mumbai they would not talk like rubbish. Is anyone of above have dare to speak on Chennai-Madras....everone having their feelings and ego with history.........so JAI MAHARASHTRA MI MUMBAIKAR

It was not at all required to bring this point on screen at the first place. It does not matter if you call this place Mumbai or Bombay. If we look at the roots, this place which we call Mumbai today, was not called Mumbai at any point of time. It was made by British and was being used as a Port because of its geographical plus points. They named it Bombay and the locals were Kohli's. What is the need to be so sensitive about the issue. So much sensityvity only relates the will to dominate people freedom of action and thoughts. Which is again non-sonstitutional. I agree with Dr Pawan, that it is now officially Mumbai by all laws, but it still does not give anyone the right to bully other individual and prevent them from the right of expression.

I would also like to contradict many of the above comments by saying that before a Delhi -ite, Bangoleran, Bihari, we all are Indians. It is a myth that people from UP, Bihar come to Mumbai in search of jobs.the truth is that people from all the regions of the India migrate to different parts in search of Jobs. People from UP and Bihar get the jobs in Mumbai coz they are much more deserving than the locals. The Law holds no restrictions in the free movement of a person from 1 place to another. Also , no country/state is self- reliant. If Mumbai/Delhi produces job opportunities, Bihar produces max no. of IAS officers and alike.We all are Indians.Not Uttar Pradeshi or Delhi walla, or Banglorean. I am a college student. I call myself an Indian instead of calling myself a Delhi-ite. Jay HIND

What to do? As an outsider he has to apologize because he must have felt danger. He has to live in Mumbai and work. I would have done the same if i were in Mumbai.

The issues/matters chosen for the Thackerays to concern for are mostly bereft of humanity,lending a hand at calamities,infrastructure etc.,and only seem to be doing show off like a typical hindi movie Zamindars who only gain from people through their egoistic/horristic acts.What makes them only stick to illogical issues and make a fuss.Recently also they've made a veritable mess of marathi's n their religion. When they care so much for the city,whats the reason behind not speaking a word on the Biggest massacre of their own city = the mumbai blasts.Nowhere have found in any papers or news channels talking about such horrendous dreaded day in bombay's diary.Then too it was their city , the Mumbai.It would have been a commmendable job ransacking a terrorist who intruded into our country,our city than the film fraternity.I feel ashamed of their unruly acts in public. Having the power and using it in an inappropriate manner makes no sense. Hope for some good soul from thackerayz who condemns the unethical and blasphemous rule.

I don't think it is any think wrong to say Bombay rather than Mumbai.Name does not matter.What matters is the soul of city currently being polluted by raj thackeray.

If Karan was willing to confesse, than he should have said sorrey in press conference .Bcz if he is hurting any individuale's sentiment just for saying Bombey in place of Mumbai than he should have go publicly ranther than persnoly to sone one. The person who is overeacting for this small matter his nather is making hill of a mol.

Who is this raj thackeray to decide what to call a city? Dude, There is no law to call a city Mumbai and no crime to call it Bombay.In fact Bombay is luckier and not an ownership of politicians.The city has got more from Bombay than Mumbai
