The question here is whether India 'can' be a deal maker? I do not think India still has enough say in international fora to be "the" deal maker. Nonetheless, India today has substancial standing and voice in international fora, where its opinion is heard and well received, but the US and China, in my opinion, are bigger players in this debate. Therefore, what they say and do will definitely matter more.

India always thought for others rather than for herself only. And for the Climate Change matter it will do the same. We are concerned about every matter of the World that we are involved with. And India emits Carbon less than 5% of the total Green House Gas in the World whereas USA has 20% share alone in that and Hillary Clinton still wants India and China to reduce the emissions...they should check their own land first. And moreover Indians are getting aware about the Global Warming everyday and other delicate matters, Thanks to the respective Ministries for the Ads that are helping to spread awareness to the masses.

India should be a deal maker however with incumbent minister it is hardly seems so. We are talking of commitment, first look at emission from developed countries, forget about per capita, even on absolute terms USA em mitts many times more than India. We with population of over one billion and not even having basic amenities, forget about luxury people have in developed nation. By taking emission cut it will directly affect our industrial activity and lead to escalation of manufacturing cost.it is rubbish even to think of taking emission cap however with present government and its meek handling of issues at national and international issues. The most likely scenario is that India will accept cap and will not be a deal maker because only brave can be path breaker timid can only follow and give lame execs for its deeds which is the ultimate scenario for India, in climate change negotiation, under present minister.

I don't think so coz India is one of the leading countries in the world in terms of pollution. Even festivals are used as a bush to hide the truth of pollution. Say Diwali...dis the GODs say that we should burn crackers in the festival??

India is definitely a force to reckon with in the global arena, spearheading the cause of developing nations on a host of global issues, including climate change. It is certain that if there is a deal India will be in the forefront as a dealmaker.

Indian diplomacy and wit is put on test while negotiating the climate issue. It has a huge PR relevance across the world even if nothing happens on ground.Let not our economic progress get hampered out of any issue in the world regardless. The developed nations should provide the green technology if they are really interested.Right now India has what the developed nations wants "MARKETS" and also the ability to produce good at lesser cost.So there is a need to play well the cards in hand, they have no other option.
