NDTV Correspondent, Thursday September 24, 2009, Mumbai
The Congress may be dithering over which political heir should be given a ticket in Maharashtra, but it has now got a much bigger problem.

With the list of seats out there is mass rebellion in its ranks, not just from sitting MLAs but also former ministers. And the NCP is also facing a similar crisis:

  • Former NCP minister Digvijay Khanvilkar has quit the party after being denied a ticket from Kolhapur
  • Former MLA Dilip Sopal is standing as an independent from Barshi in Solapur
  • NCP MLA Balasaheb Patil from Karad has resigned after being denied a ticket, will contest as an Independent
  • NCP workers in Pandharpur upset after the seat went to rural development minister Vijaysinh Mohite Patil. The sitting MLA is Sudhakar Paricharak
