KCR critical, needs food immediately: Doctors
NDTV Correspondent, Tuesday December 8, 2009, Hyderabad

Doctors have said Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekhar Rao is in critical condition and needs solid food immediately. KCR has been on a fast over the demand for a separate Telangana state for the last 10 days.

He has continued his hunger strike despite a request from the Chief Minister K Rosaiah to end the fast.

The TRS chief's fast and the fast-paced developments over the last few days have the Congress government in Andhra struggling with growing pressure to push for a separate Telangana. The Chief Minister, K Rosaish, has said it's upto the Congress' central command in Delhi to decide the issue.

The Telangana issue raged in the Andhra Assembly on Tuesday, forcing the adjournment of the House for the day. The party leading the movement for a separate state, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, wanted the Chief Minister to move a resolution on Telangana, so that parties could vote on the matter.

However, this is dangerous for the ruling Congress, because this could expose its own divisions on the issue. In the wake of the confusion and tension, the Assembly was adjourned.

Outside, the streets of Hyderabad remain tense. Osmania University professors have threatened to resign en masse unless the police is withdrawn from the campus. The government has placed the university under high security and is closely monitoring the situation. Students were lathi-charged here on Monday while protesting for the Telangana cause. Last week, they set several vehicles on fire.

TRS activists also camped outside Health Minister Nagendra's home. The health minister is against Hyderabad becoming a part of Telangana.

In Delhi, Congress president Sonia Gandhi met with senior ministers on Thursday night to discuss the Telangana issue. A party spokesperson said that the Congress' stand remains that it is in principle not opposed to a separate state as long as "there is a consensus" on the issue.

But the party may soon have to take a more decided stand. On the 10th of December, all groups supporting the Telagana cause have called a "Chalo Assembly" bandh where people have been asked to march to Hyderabad to protest outside the Assembly. There are growing fears that this demonstration will lead to violence on the streets.

KCR changed the definition & meaning of Fast unto Death. by taking IV fluids (liquids), multi vitamins (just avoiding Solid food) under the intensive Medical care from the doctors. He took all the necessary steps 1.his family approached Human Rights Commission to move him to the place (Hyderabad, where good medical support will be there. 2. Influenced NIMs people to move him to ICU room, so that proper rivacy will be there, no one can watch/observe his activities. 3. Took so-called support therapy, which will not let him to life threat or risk of death. 4. Its clearly visible that, the moment Chdambaram made Announcement that "The Process of Telangana state formation Initiates", he could able to speak with media, shifted to normal room. The moment he discharged from hospital he could stand up by his own. At his residence he waves at his supporters. Given interview to the national Channel. Started blaming/criticizing his opponents as usual. Is this any person, who was under 10 day Fasting can do? Its really 8th wonder of the World.

All these episodes look like a drama to me and the students are unnecessary being involved in this very political drama Carving a separate state called telangana is not ging to help in anyway. The real issues are poverty and poor economic conditions and these are pushed to back burner and just hanging around the superficial separate statehood.People of telangana will realise one day that this is a very bad achievement. India is still developing over past couple of decades only because poeple trust foolish political leaders and forget their common sense. I'm also shocked to hear the stand taken by the center regarding this and center should have been firm on this issue no matter if someone chooses to fast unto death because fasting is not the right way to achive things. One should not be surprised if in near future others choose the same path to fulfill their motives I pity myself for being a resident of telangana and cannot imagine a prosperous Andhra pradesh anymore
