Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that the first affidavit on Ishrat case was being misused as a shield.

His comments come on the day when Centre has filed its new affidavit on the encounter case in the Gujarat High Court.

The two-page affidavit has been prepared by the Home Ministry.

Last week, NDTV had reported that the government was proposing a new affidavit. This document says:

• Intelligence inputs given by the Centre cannot be treated as material evidence that Ishrat was linked to the LeT
  

• The Gujarat government should have inquired into the intelligence inputs given by the Centre and not considered it conclusive
  

• Centre has no objection to a CBI probe into the encounter
