One person has been killed and another injured in an accident on the Bandra Worli Sea Link in Mumbai. The accident took place when a taxi collided with a Skoda car.
This is considered to be the first causality on the Bandra-Worli sea link highway. The roads have been cleared and the flow of traffic is normal on the sea link.
India's first sea bridge, which was opened to traffic on June 30, 2009, aims to ease chronic congestion on Mumbai's roads.
The Bandra-Worli sea link has cut travel time by at least half an hour on a crucial route that connects north to south Mumbai.
It takes less than 10 minutes to drive across the five km-long bridge.
It took 46 years for the idea of a sea link to become a reality in Mumbai. The 5.6 km Bandra-Worli sea link bridge connects the northern suburb of Bandra to Worli in South Mumbai. It is an eight-lane twin carriageway.
