Mercury down, rains predicted for Tuesday
Press Trust of India, Monday February 15, 2010, New Delhi

A western disturbance over the city on Monday brought the mercury down to below normal levels in the national Capital with the maximum temperature recorded at 21.2 degree Celsius.

Today's maximum was three degrees below normal while the minimum was recorded at 10.3 degree, which is normal for this time of year, the Met Office said.

The decrease in day temperature is attributed to extra tropical weather system.

There could be rains in some parts of the Capital along with thundershowers tomorrow with the weatherman predicting that the mercury will oscillate between 11 and 24 degree C.

The day is likely to be cloudy with mist in the morning.

The minimum had touched a record 15 degree C on Tuesday, the highest for the past five years in February.

However, the city witnessed heavy rains on Friday evening which brought the mercury down substantially.
