Bollywood icon Sridevi died due to "accidental drowning", the post-mortem conducted in Dubai said today, reported Gulf news. The autopsy report has been handed over to the family.

Sridevi, who died in Dubai on Saturday evening, is expected to take place in Mumbai today. Her family, in a statement said, her body will be brought back to India today. According to a Khaleej Times report, Sridevi's body is expected to be ready to be flown back to India this afternoon in Anil Ambani's private jet. The forensic report and the death certificate have been issued. After procedures at the embalming centre, the superstar's body will be flown back to Mumbai.
Sridevi, 54, died in her hotel room in Dubai on Saturday evening and a medical team failed to revive her. She was declared dead when she was taken to hospital, Indian ambassador in UAE Navdeep Suri told NDTV. Sridevi's brother-in-law and actor Sanjay Kapoor said
she had no history of heart ailment.
The sudden death left her legions of fans and the film industry shocked and heartbroken. Celebrities have started arriving at her brother-in-law and co-star, Anil Kapoor's home. Karan Johar, Madhuri Dixit, Manish Malhotra, Tabu and many others have reached Anil Kapoor's home to pay their respects. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are also to be preset in Mumbai for the funeral.

Dubai police on Monday recorded the statement of Boney Kapoor, husband of Bollywood actor Sridevi who died of accidental drowning in her hotel bathtub after losing consciousness, news agency PTI reported citing a media report.
Rajinikanth was also seen outside Anil Kapoor's residence, news agency ANI reported.
As condolences continue to pour in, Shah Rukh Khan, who worked with Sridevi in "Army", reached Anil Kapoor's residence to express grief. "Zero" that has Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role will be the last movie where Sridevi will be seen.
India's Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Suri tweeted: "The media interest in untimely demise of Sridevi is understandable. But the frenzy of speculation does not help." He said they are working with local authorities to ensure that the mortal remains can be sent to India at the earliest. "We are on the job," Mr Suri said. "We are in regular contact with the family of Sridevi and other well-wishers. We share their pain. Our experience in similar cases tells us that it does take two-three days to complete processes. We leave it to the experts to determine cause of demise. Let's be responsible."
Sridevi's body not being embalmed today, unlikely to return to Mumbai before tomorrow, say reports.
"Our embassy and consulate are working closely with local authorities to expedite the return of mortal remains of Sridevi and also keeping Kapoor family apprised; it is our endeavour to send mortal remains at earliest," Indian Envoy to UAE Navdeep Suri said, news agency ANI reported.
The Dubai government's media office said, "Dubai Police has transferred the case to Dubai Public Prosecution, which will carry out regular legal procedures followed in such cases."

After the report will be handed over to the forensics department, Sridevi's body will be taken to the Al Baraha Hospital where the death certificate will be issued. The body will then be taken to Muhaisana Embalming Centre and later repatriated back to Mumbai in a private jet which Anil Ambani has sent.

Kamal Haasan will be joining Sridevi's final journey in Mumbai. He said: "Kamal Haasan: I'm going to pay my respects to Sridevi's family. I'm close to the family. I'd not participate in the final rites." He had also tweeted earlier in praise of the star.

Indian Consulate officials reveal that that after receiving the Police Clearance and forensic report, the other procedures including, immigration and embalming would be completed in the next 3 to 4 hours, a source told the publication.
