The Volkswagen Taigun facelift will be the latest mid-size SUV in the Indian market, competing against models like Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Sierra, and Maruti Suzuki Victoris.

Volkswagen is preparing to launch the Taigun facelift in the Indian market following the introduction of the Skoda Kushaq facelift. Before the event, the test mule of the vehicle had been spied testing on different occasions, revealing a few details. Although the test unit was covered in camouflage, using these pictures, a digital artist has created render images of the upcoming model, giving a preview of what the SUV might look like.

The render images encapsulate the same elements as the test mule. It shows a front end of the SUV is set to undergo a redesign, with plans to incorporate a connecting LED light bar similar to that of the Tiguan. In addition, the headlight design will be refreshed and will feature fully LED units. The front grille of the Taigun is expected to increase in size, adding a prominent D-shaped faux skid plate, while the fog lights are likely to be smaller and integrated into the bumper.

On the side profile, the SUV will showcase a new set of alloy wheels, although the overall design will largely remain unchanged. At the rear, the Taigun will receive updated taillights featuring a connecting LED bar and a revised bumper. Overall, this is a similar pattern seen on the Kushaq facelift.

Inside, the Taigun will maintain a cabin design similar to the current model, but Volkswagen may introduce a new color scheme to refresh the appearance. The SUV will include features such as electrically adjustable seats, a ventilated front passenger seat, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a large fully digital instrument cluster or virtual cockpit, cruise control, a rear seat massager function, and a panoramic sunroof, among other amenities.

Regarding engine and transmission options, they are expected to remain the same. The SUV will be equipped with a 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine, which is a three-cylinder turbocharged unit that produces 115 PS and 178 Nm of peak torque.

The current version of the Taigun is available with both a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission; however, these will be updated in the facelifted model. The new Taigun will continue to offer a 6-speed manual but will replace the 6-speed automatic with a new 8-speed transmission aimed at improving fuel efficiency.The 1.5-liter TSI engine will still deliver 150 hp and 250 Nm of peak torque and will feature cylinder deactivation technology. It will be available solely with a 7-speed DSG. As a result of these updates, the Volkswagen Taigun is expected to see a slight price increase compared to the current model.
