- Taigun sales increased by 70% month-on-month in April 2026
- Volkswagen's total sales in April 2026 were 2,828 units; 1% down on YoY basis
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift officially went on sale in India on April 14, 2026. Competing in the hotly-contested mid-size SUV segment, dominated by models such as the Creta, Grand Vitara, and Victoris; the Taigun facelift has still managed to post a noticeable uptick in sales for April this year. Volkswagen claims the Taigun's wholesale stood at 1,543 units, marking a 70 per cent month-on-month growth and a 34 per cent year-on-year increase.

Why This Big Jump?
While the 70 per cent MoM growth appears substantial, it is important to view it in context. Dispatches of the Taigun were scaled down in March as production of the facelifted model only commenced on April 7, 2026. As a result, Volkswagen shipped fewer units of the outgoing model in March, followed by higher dispatches of the facelifted Taigun to dealerships in April.
Taking into account the YoY increment, Volkswagen wholesaled a total of 1,155 units in April last year, while the dispatch rose to 1,543 units this year, which is a difference of just 388 units.
