JSW MG Motor India has expanded the Windsor EV line-up with a fleet-focused variant called the Commute, priced at Rs 13.49 lakh, ex-showroom. Positioned for taxi and commercial use, the new version is almost Rs 60,000 cheaper than the standard Windsor's base variant and also continues to offer the battery rental option under MG's Battery-as-a-Service plan.

The Commute uses the same 38kWh battery pack as the regular Windsor Excite variant. MG has not changed the electric SUV's core powertrain, and the claimed ARAI range remains 332 km, making it suitable for city-oriented fleet duty. In the standard version, the electric vehicle gets both 3.2 kW AC charging and 45 kW DC fast charging. It gets an electric motor which produces 134 hp of power and 200 Nm of peak torque.

To keep costs under control, MG has trimmed several features from the cabin. The Commute gets 17-inch steel wheels instead of alloy wheels, a 7-inch driver display, and a simpler infotainment setup without the 10.1-inch touchscreen; the unit on offer supports only basic functions such as USB, FM radio, and Bluetooth.

The exterior still carries over features such as LED projector headlights, ORVM-mounted turn indicators, and flush-fitting door handles. Inside, the cabin uses a black theme with gold accents on some trims, while fabric upholstery replaces the more premium finish seen on higher variants.

Other equipment includes manual air conditioning, manually adjustable ORVMs, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, power windows, and rear seat recline function. For safety, MG has equipped the Commute with four disc brakes, two airbags, hill-hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring, and three-point seatbelts for all occupants.

With the Commute, MG is clearly targeting operators who want a lower entry price and a practical EV for daily commercial running rather than a feature-rich family car.
