Classic Legends Patents Adjustable Visor And Speedometer System In India
Yezdi Adventure

Classic Legends has secured a patent in India for an adjustable visor and speedometer system, expanding its intellectual property portfolio in the domestic motorcycle market. The patent has been granted for a 20-year term from March 21, 2023, under the Patents Act, 1970.

The patented technology covers a system that allows riders to adjust both the visor and the speedometer to suit their height and riding preferences. This adjustability is designed to be useful in varied conditions, including off-road riding, where riders may need different viewing angles and wind protection. The system was first introduced on the 2025 Yezdi Adventure, one of the company's key models in the adventure-touring segment.

Classic Legends describes this development as part of its rider-centric engineering strategy. According to Susheel Sinha, Head of R&D at Classic Legends, the patent aligns with the company's philosophy of prioritising functional engineering solutions over simply adding more features. The company aims to use such technologies to enhance practical usability for riders.

This is Classic Legends' second successfully granted patent. The company had earlier obtained intellectual property rights for its Airfilter Multifrequency Resonator, deployed on its 650cc BSA Gold Star and BSA Scrambler motorcycles sold in the UK. The resonator is designed to reduce air-filter noise across the engine's rpm range, unlike conventional designs that typically work at a single frequency.

These include its liquid-cooled 334cc Alpha 2 engine, six-speed gearboxes, assist and slipper clutches, traction control systems, and advanced braking technologies across various models.

Headquartered in Pune, Classic Legends owns and operates the Jawa and Yezdi brands in the Indian market. For international markets, particularly the UK, the company retails motorcycles under the BSA brand. BSA Motorcycles, which Classic Legends acquired in 2016 as part of the Mahindra Group.
