Most rapid spread of H1N1 virus in UK
Swati Maheshwari, Saturday August 8, 2009, London

Britain has been through the phase of testing each and every suspected new case. But the focus has now shifted to the next stage of management of the virus, when, estimates suggest, the new cases are touching the 100,000 mark every week.

As one of the countries with the most rapid spread of the virus, Britain has shifted from a policy of containment to treatment.

They have launched a national service where if you have flu like symptoms, you can call up dedicated call centres or check online whether you have swine flu. So, you don't have to go to your GP, you can access antivirals quickly and don't infect others by travelling around.

This has decreased pressure on the health services. It seems to be working as, reports say, there has been a significant drop in the number of suspected cases last week.
