Press Trust of India, Wednesday September 23, 2009, New Delhi

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday restrained boxer Vijender Singh, a bronze medalist in the Olympics and the World Boxing Championship, from entering into any sports management agreement with Percept Ltd.

Hearing a petition by celebrity management firm Infinity Optimal Solutions (IOS), a single judge bench of Justice S L Bhayana said the boxer cannot sign any deal with Percept, an event management firm, or other firms till further orders.

"Till the next date of hearing, respondent No 1 (Singh) is restrained from entering into any sports management agreement with defendant no 2 (Percept) or any other third party," the court said.

In its petition, IOS had submitted that it had an agreement with the boxer till September 2015 and the boxer could not enter into agreement with any other party.

IOS had signed up Vijender Singh in September 2005 for exclusive representation rights for 10 years. As per the agreement all deals/promotion has to be rooted through IOS.

Recently, the boxer had signed a multi-crore rupee deal with Percept, which is being contested by IOS.
