Explosion in Goa, 2 seriously injured

According to reports, an explosion occurred at Grace Church in Margao, Goa on Friday evening. The explosion reportedly happened on a motorcycle, in which two people were seriously injured.

Speaking about the incident, Goa DIG said, "We have heard reports of a blast, but its nature is not known."

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, South Goa, termed the explosion a minor blast.

"Security has already been beefed up for Friday as Goans burn the effigy of the demon Narkasur," he said.

Police said the blast, triggered at around 9.30 pm, also gutted three vehicles. The vehicle, which contained the explosive, was parked behind Grace Church located in the heart of the town.

A red alert was declared across Goa after the incident, Superintendent of Police Atmaram Deshpande said.

Margao town, the South Goa district headquarters, is the assembly constituency of Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat.
