Six arrested for teasing airhostess get bail
Press Trust of India, Tuesday March 16, 2010, Kolkata

Six youths who were arrested after being forced to alight from a Patna-Kolkata-Bangalore Indigo flight at the NSCB International airport on Monday evening on charge of misbehaving with an air hostess have got bail.

Airlines sources said the six men allegedly started misbehaving with the woman shortly after the flight took off from Patna and continued their act despite protests by her and other crew members.

When the plane landed at Kolkata, they were removed from the plane by the Indigo authorities and handed over to CISF.

The six - identified as Md Hidatullah, A K Singh, Salman Khan, Amjad Khan, Ali Md, N Pasa from Bangalore - were later arrested by Airport Police on the basis of complaint lodged by Indigo.

The six arrested had to pay a surety of Rs 1000 each. They have been charged under sections 34, 354 and 506 and the next hearing of the case will be on March 30.

Though the accused, all in their early 20s, claimed to have merely asked for water when the air hostess was passing by, the airlines refuted the claim.

Airline cabin crew's role is crucial in an aircraft and its mainly concerning safety of the passengers. Serving food is just an additional responsibility.Passengers should not take them for granted. Mis behaving with women at work whether by customers or co workers/superiors should be dealt with seriously.

The action taken by the airlines is wright...though the men are in early 20's but they r the future of this country and such an act is very shameful and disgracegul for the entire country. A more tougher law should be introduced for such elements of the society.
