Walking down the Met Gala red carpet is a dream for many. A dream that came true for Indian Billionaire Mona Patel in 2024. But for one to make dreams come true, one must dream big. Mona Patel did just that but we bet she didn't realise the degree to which her Met Gala debut would become a topic of discussion all across the globe. Her highly engineered Iris Van Herpen dress had a significant role to play as far as that was concerned. She turned to the Dutch designer with the help of celebrity stylist Law Roach, you know, the same person responsible for dressing up Zendaya on and off the red carpet, to arrive in a kinetic. It was a neutral-toned strapless gown with shades of beige and ivory lace working its magic to create texture and dimension on the bodice and the train. The masterpiece of the outfit was the moving butterfly sleeves attached to gold cuff bracelets that doubled up as jewellery too. The moving sleeves made by Casey Curran for this epic Met Gala collaboration are certain to go down in history. Drop diamond earrings for jewellery and minimal hair and makeup completed the look. All we can say is that if there were an exhibit to launch next year based on this year's dress code, "The Garden Of Time," we hope Mona Patel's gown and sleeves land a seat on the display.
Among the most distinguished red carpet events of the year, the Cannes Film Festival is one and takes place soon after the Met Gala on the first Monday of May. In 2023, Mona Patel made yet another milestone debut, one on the esteemed Cannes red carpet. Needless to say, she was a sparkler at the French Riviera too. It was a strapless midnight blue tulle gown but her Chopard jewels were the obvious spotlight stealers for the evening.
