Last winter Arvind Kejriwal's ubiquitous muffler went viral as part of many jokes forwarded on social media.This season, his supporters have turned it on its head in the build-up to the Delhi elections. They have made it trend on Twitter for more than a week straight.
Supporters of Mr Kejriwal's Aam AAdmi Party or AAP are now celebrating the success of #Mufflerman with more tweets. Some prominent AAP members like Mayank Gandhi and actorGul Panag too have referred to Mr Kejriwal as 'Mufflerman' in their tweets.
Ms Panag reportedly also called him that while speaking on stage at an AAP meet on women and delightedly shared that on Twitter.
Memes and movie posters casting Arvind Kejriwal as Mufflerman, a super hero armed with a broom - the AAP's election symbol - and out to demolish corruption, have been tweeted and retweeted many times over.
AAP supporters claimed on Twitter that the hastag has been used more than 200,000 times since November 20.The Aam Aadmi Party has used social media innovatively since the party's launch in 2012.
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is, with 2.88 million followers, is one of the most followed Indian politicians on Twitter - a list led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has 8.22 million followers.
Post Script: The muffler as it was seen last year - around Mr Kejriwal's neck - hasn't made an appearance yet.
