Araria, Bhabua and Jehanabad by-election results: Counting for the three seats began at 8 am.

Patna: Counting for the Lok Sabha seat in Bihar's Araria and two assembly seats - Bhabua and Jahanabad began at 8 am. After over 20 rounds of counting in the three constituencies, the RJD emerged victorious in the bypolls winning both Araria and Jehanabad seats while the BJP got Bhahua. "Nitish Kumar cannot even repent publicly now," tweeted RJD's Tejashwi Yadav as the results were announced. The three constituencies went to poll on March 11 and was seen as a test for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who exited the mahagathbandhan last year to walk with BJP to form government in the state. 

Araria saw a voter turnout of 57 percent, 54.03 in Bhabua and 50.06 percent in Jehanabad.

BJP should stop working for face value, put focus on people: Jitan Ram Manjhi

After the RJD won the Jenhanabad seat and is seen to be leading in Araria constituency, former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said that the BJP should stop working for its face value and instead put in efforts to work for the people. "That's the only way in which they can improve or else they will face the same result in the 2019 elections as they have in this bypoll," he told news agency ANI.

RJD's Krishna Kumar Mohan alias Suyad Yadav wins Jehanabad seat

Rashtriya Janata Dal's Krishna Kumar Mohan won the crucial Jehanabad seat in Bihar. The party is also leading in Araria though BJP's Rinky Rani Pandey won the Bhabua seat. While Araria Lok Sabha seat saw a turnout of 57 per cent, Jehanabad and Bhabua recorded 50.6 per cent and 54.3 per cent turnout, respectively

In Jahanabad, assembly by-elections was held after the death of RJD lawmaker Mundrika Singh Yadav. RJD fielded Mundrika Singh Yadav's son Uday Yadav. The JD(U) has fielded Abhiram Sharma who had won the seat in 2010 when his party was an ally of the BJP.
