Veteran actor Dilip Kumar is admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, tweeted his family friend Faisal Farooqui, who is usually in charge of Dilip Kumar's Twitter account. Dilip Kumar has been admitted due to chest infection and breathlessness. He's currently under care and supervision at the hospital. "Saab has been admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital as he was bit uneasy due to a chest infection. He's recuperating. Requesting your duas and prayers," read the tweet. Dilip Kumar, who will celebrate his 96th birthday in December this year, has been in and out of the hospital for the past few years.

 

 

Meanwhile, Faisal Farooqui also shared an health update of sorts about Dilip Kumar: "Due to advance age, Saab has been routinely visiting the hospital for overall health care and health management."

 

 

 

 

Last year, Dilip Kumar was in the hospital for a brief while because of a kidney related ailment. Few months after he returned home from the hospital, he was yet again advised rest as he was diagnosed with pneumonia. Following Dilip Kumar's medical conditions, the legendary actor had visitors like Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra checking up on him. In December last year, Dilip Kumar celebrated his 95th birthday with wife Saira Banu and friends at home while his 94th birthday celebrations were at Lilavati Hospital in 2016 - he was being treated for fever and a swollen leg.

Saira Banu often operates Dilip Kumar's Twitter and shares health updates about the actor. In July this year, Saira Banu tweeted about attending a function "without" Dilip Kumar in an emotional tweet and wrote: "I felt lonely without Sahab, but was overjoyed to bless the couple and interact with so many of you."

 

 

 

 

Dilip Kumar married Saira Banu in 1966. They have featured together in films such as Sagina Mahato, Chhoti Bahu and Duniya. Dilip Kumar, who was born as Mohammad Yusuf Khan, is best known for his starring roles in films like Madhumati, Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Ram Aur Shyam and Naya Daur in a career spanning over six-decades.

Dilip Kumar was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan in 2015, the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994.
