New Delhi:
The 15th Lok Sabha is all set to begin. Over the next two days a host of new MPs are to be sworn-in. On June 3, the first Dalit woman Speaker Meira Kumar will be sworn in.
The Congress party has played its cards perfectly, also with the party increasing its tally from 145 to 206, it is in the drivers seat over choices of posts in the Parliament.
June 4 will be the day to watch out for when government will announce its plans for the next few months in the presidential address. This time it will have a free hand without having to take into account any pressure from any of its allies.
A look at what the first session will be like:
The session is set to have seven sittings
543 MPs are set to be sworn-in in the next two days
Protem Speaker Manikrao Gavit will swear in the MPs
Leader of the House Pranab Mukherjee will be sworn in first
Leader of the Opposition L K Advani will be sworn in second
President Pratibha Patil will address the Parliament on Thursday
Meira Kumar will be elected Speaker of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday
