Four people arrested for allegedly ransacking hospital in Thane

Thane: Four people were arrested last night in Thane for allegedly ransacking the district civil hospital, police said.

They ransacked the hospital and assaulted those who were present there, blaming the doctors for the death of a man, identified as Ammu alias Ahmad Nazir Shaikh. According to police, he was involved in criminal activities.

He was brought to the hospital after he was stabbed during a dispute in Mumbra area of Thane district last night.

Though he was declared brought dead, his friends and relatives alleged negligence of the doctors.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 427 (mischief causing damage) of the IPC and under the provisions of the damage to public property.

Also, a case under section 302 (murder) of IPC has been registered in connection with the incident in Mumbra where the victim sustained injuries. No one has been arrested for the attack so far, police said.
