Catch of the Day: Going (Lady) Ga Ga, then and now
New Delhi: Hate to go the herd way, but ever since Lady Gaga slapped on chunks of meat on to her body and even her head and then went on to dominate a music awards night, I must admit I have been more than a little intrigued by this phenomenon.

So she has multiple awards, has been ranked as the second most powerful musician in the world at age 24 and has bested Barack Obama on Twitter and Facebook on the fan count. She also redefines unusual or weird depending which side of the argument you are on.

My one - and rather irrelevant, I am told most times - question: If she is a singer, can she sing?

So a die-hard fan, who is gaga over Ga Ga, meat, wigs, no-clothes and all, decided he'd send me proof instead of hate mail. Here is the YouTube video I received.



That is Ga Ga when she was Stefani Germanotta, a New York University student and undiscovered. She certainly can sing.

Pity that anyone with that sort of vocal prowess needs to be provocative or eccentric to be noticed? The way the cookie crumbles, I suppose. Not too many people seem to be complaining. Here's the Lady now:
