One year on, it has happened again. India's territory has been shown as part of China on Google Earth.

in August 2000 Google Earth depicted Arunachal Pradesh as Chinese territory, after much hue and cry in media Google made corrections and released an apology saying the mistake occurred during routine update to Google Earth.

But the Arunachal mistake is turning into an annual feature. Analysts are wondering what apology Google will issue this time.

For now, Google has issued a statement that says: "The earlier issue of using Chinese labels for the Arunachal Pradesh region has since been resolved and the maps domain reflects this change. As far as Google Earth is concerned, it is Google's standard practice to show all disputed regions around the globe in red lines."

Do they have any idea what is going on? Is Google the victim of Chinese hackers?

Last year most of the US and Europe reported rampant hacking of major government websites directed from China.

When attacks brought down pentagon website, CNN ran interviews with Chinese hackers but could not establish direct link with Chinese military or government.

Though Google had made it clear that this issue did not impact depiction of international borders, the latest gaff certainly leaves a question mark on credibility and safety of websites of the Internet giant and vulnerability of the World Wide Web.
