Whenever we travel to a new place, whether for studies, work or simply a vacation, finding a place to stay is one of the first things on our minds. After booking the tickets, the next question is usually: where to stay? While people have their own choices, priorities, and preferences, most decide based on budget and comfort.
A vlogger named Lexie Alford recently shared a video on Instagram, giving viewers a glimpse of what she called Dubai's cheapest hotel. The charge? Just $1! Can you believe it? She booked the hotel and shared details through an Instagram video.
“Let's go and see if it's as bad as the reviews,” she said in the reel. She then entered the premises and asked about the room she had booked. A man took her to the room, which initially appeared dark.

Meanwhile, in a separate video, she shared her thoughts about the situation. “What's going on in my mind in this moment is that there's a man who is trying to lure me into a bedroom that is completely dark, and I don't know anybody here. He hasn't even confirmed this is the hotel I am looking for, and the last thing I want is to go into this room and have the door latched behind me. That's literally my worst nightmare in this scenario. So I am going to be hesitating in the door for a bit longer.”
The man then switched on the lights, revealing several bunk beds inside the room. Someone at the property told her, “There isn't a room here. We will give you back the money.”
She agreed.

Later, she also gave viewers a virtual tour of the property and showed the bathroom, which was shared by 12 people. She also showed the kitchen, where, as she pointed out, “you can conveniently do the laundry at the same time as making breakfast.” Utensils and cooking equipment were included in the $1 stay. She also showed a working fridge with some ‘complimentary chicken' inside.
“It looks like the place is just a two-bedroom apartment that somebody converted into a hostel,” she said.
Since the place was overbooked, the hotel refunded her money.

“Are you still in Dubai? Because you will love the free hotel in Al Awir. Unfortunately, you can't film inside, but they have free meals for you 3 times a day,” a comment read.
Drawing a comparison, a user wrote, “Better than a 1k hotel in India”
A user commented, “What do you expect for 1$? I think it's great. I was expecting way worse. Imagine someone lost a job, so at least they have somewhere to sleep instead of a street. Go to NYC and let's see what you can book for 1 $”
Someone mentioned, “They refunded you basically because they don't want you to stay there. They expected an Asian worker to stay”
A comment read, “That is not a hotel nor a motel. It's a bed space”
