Architect allegedly tries to rob client, kills 20-year-old student and her mother

Hyderabad: A medical student and her mother were allegedly murdered in broad daylight today by three people, who also attacked and injured two others, including the young victim's father in Nellore town of Andhra Pradesh.

According to preliminary information, accused Imtiyaz, who is an architect, and two others went to the house of Dinakar Reddy, who runs a pharmacy college at Harnathpuram area, with an intention to commit robbery.

Imtiyaz, who had done the interior and renovation work of Mr Reddy's building, was known to his family and was also aware that there was gold and cash available in the house, police said. He went to their house and discussed with the family members about some designs of the college.

"After initially discussing the matter, it seems Imtiyaz and two others attacked Mr Reddy's wife Shakuntala (45), daughter Bhargavi (around 20), a third-year medical student, with knives and rods, killing them on the spot," a senior police officer told PTI over phone from Nellore.

The trio later attacked Dinakar Reddy and Pravin Kumar, an assistant professor at his college, when they noticed them committing robbery in the house, he said.

However, the trio while fleeing saw some locals gathered outside the house and hid themselves inside.

Some locals alerted the police about the incident, who rushed to the spot and caught hold of the trio even as the local residents, including several women, started beating them up and demanded the police to hand over the accused to them.

Nellore District Superintendent of Police BV Ramana Kumar and other senior police officers visited the spot and enquired about the incident.

Nellore IV Town police were investigating the case further.
