A foreigner has claimed that 'India needs a rebrand' after enjoying his experience in the backwaters of Kerala. Digital creator Jack Heaton, who is currently travelling across India, shared a video on Instagram, stating that tourists only prefer the 'chaotic' Golden Triangle while visiting the country and never venture beyond. He said India needs to promote Kerala and its beauty so that tourists get a real picture of India, both offline and online.

"India, unfortunately, gets a bad reputation online, but honestly, I think that the majority of these tourists are only visiting Delhi and the Golden Triangle. There needs to be a serious shift in actually promoting places that tourists will enjoy," Heaton captioned the accompanying video.

Calling Kerala clean and peaceful, Heaton said the best way to explore the southern state of India was through the houseboats in the backwaters.

"Kerala, on the other hand, is absolutely fantastic: clean, peaceful and straight up gorgeous. Obviously, one of the best ways to get that taste of Kerala is cruise through the backwaters on a traditional houseboat like this one. What is not to love?" said Heaton.

"Spacious, high quality, quiet & with fantastic Indian food this is easily the best experience I have done in India so far," he added.

'It's Amazing'

As the post went viral, social media users appreciated Heaton for sharing his heartwarming experience, while others agreed with his assessment about the beauty of backwaters.

"In Alleppey right now, and it's amazing! My opinion on India has done a 180 since arriving in Kerala," said one user while another added: "Goa, Kerala, Konkan, certain parts of Maharashtra, North East, Kashmir, all are exotic."

A third commented: "Visit Tamil Nadu too, the neighbouring state of Keralam. We have curated tour plans for trekking, spiritual, mountains, UNESCO sites and much more. It's enchantingly beautiful."

A fourth said: "It's the most civilised part of India, tidy, organised, not overpopulated and trash-strewn, inclusive, civic-minded, and most of all hospitable."
