When Sanjay Garg, the designer behind bringing us the raw beauty of Raw Mango sarees, started his brand 10 years ago, Indian handloom was being interpreted by far lesser designers. Today, a decade later, wearing Raw Mango is the style statement of style statements - not only are you a part of the handloom revolution that has gathered speed over the years, you are also showcasing what many call "hipster fashion". Raw Mango sarees are so subtly beautiful that every weave, work and stitch garners admiration. And the label's admirers are many.
Raw Mango is now a go-to label for celebrities such as Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt and others. A-listers flock to Sanjay Garg's studio and the Raw Mango Instagram account is routinely filled up with pictures of famous folks draped in the beautiful sarees. March was especially crowded with stars.
Rani Mukerji was seen in an odhani with a twill kurta at the International Women's Conference.
Actress Surveen Chawla, who has been seen in movies such as Hate Story 2 and Parched, was spotted in a Varanasi brocade lehenga paired with a mashru silk blouse. Simple and elegant.
And apparently the brand seems to be in the list of one of Surveen's favourites; she wore Raw Mango again - this time a jacket and sharara made of gul textile.
Kirti Kulhari, slated to be seen in Blackmail next, made a jacket and pant look like effortless fashion and we dug it.
Southern actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu wore a quilted jacket from Sanjay Garg's Cloud People collection. But what we loved most was the brocade skirt. The motifs did it for us.
Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar rocked a 'baagh' saree for Raw Mango's series of photographs called The Inhabitants. Loving the summer vibes.
Lipstick Under My Burkha actress Ahana Kumra came up with a minimalist, monochromatic look in a quilted jacket dress paired with boots and red lipstick.
Raima Sen was seen in a pretty emerald green silk suit, paired with gold jhumkas.
Last but far from least, Sharmila Tagore wore a saree from Raw Mango's Midnight collection.
Raw Mango's mix of quirky and vintage spin on heritage handloom keeps celebrity attention glued to itself. Here's to more Raw Mango-spotting in the rest of 2018.
