On the occasion of Paris Men's Fashion Week, Dior displayed a blockbuster show that coincidentally (or not) fell on the five-year anniversary of British designer Kim Jones at the helm of Dior Menswear. In the wake of part unique and part unusual catwalks for fashion shows, Dior staged a metallic ramp to jump on the trend. The brand displayed a unique, futuristic setup with multiple models elevating from the ground below in square cutouts from the ramp to continue their ramp walk. Dior's impressive attempt at creating a futuristic stage was in sync with the collection's bold elements keeping in mind the aesthetic of the modern man.
Kim Jones' artistry shines in this collection. The designer created each outfit “woven with different yarns.” While bright hues turned out to be the highlight. Each of the outfits separately carried “graphic Cannage motifs,” the signature of the brand. The outfits were pulled together with the help of fabrics like “mottled jacquards or speckled knits” and tweed was the most in demand. In keeping with the brand's well-known ethos of 'less is more', pastel shades like grey and ivory took centre stage in the midst of bright pops of hues. The collection included softly-tailored coats, tank tops with shorts which were sealed together with “chunky-soled loafers,” and accessories like backpacks.
There was no doubt that the show wasn't going to be a starry affair. Several renowned faces occupied the front rows. Some of those faces were Canadian model Winnie Harlow, Hollywood star Demi Moore, Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie and singers Cha Eun-woo and Maluma.

The biggest surprise among those who were seated at the show was the singer and newly made Creative Director of Louis Vuitton Men, Pharrell Williams with his son and wife who put up a stellar show himself for the French brand earlier this month. A huge leap, that only goes to show that rival brands have often blurred the lines of competition in appreciation of fashion in these changing times.
The new collection displayed by Dior sets the season's trends in motion with bold colours and prints fused with clean and sharp silhouettes perfectly.
