To help you out with that, we've done our digging and looked into the crystal ball to predict 6 beauty trends that will make waves this year. Don't say we didn't tell you.
1. Metallic Lips
Move over, mattifying liquid lipsticks because this is going to be the year of metallic lippies. While mainly matte finishes and a few glossy ones enjoyed their time in the limelight in the last few years, brands are releasing plenty of high-shine metal finish lipsticks that are all set to be 2018's hottest lip statement.
2. Glitter Eyes
Shimmer is a headlining beauty trends across categories in 2018, and we're not just talking about during the festive season. Glitter eye makeup will continue to reign all of this year with luminescent lids, sparkling inner corners and chunky glitter peepers with these trends reaching the top of the charts, and brands egging them on with the release of shimmery shadows.
3. Skin Focus
Last year had its fair share of skin goodness with the likes of 24K gold masks and activated charcoal face washes appearing everywhere we looked. This time around, the craze only gets bigger. Get set to see plenty more focus on skin products, innovations and treatments as words like 'dermaplaning' and 'rubber masks' become a part of your vocabulary.
4. Abstract Nails
You'll witness many nail trends in 2018, especially during fashion season, but the one that will be a staple is abstract nail art. The artistic mixture of nail varnish strokes peppered with rhinestones and foil is a simple trend that you don't need to be a nail pro to try, so you can't make any more excuses not to try this one.
5. Tinted Highlighter
The sparkling touch will make its way to the face in 2018 with glimmering strobing, in skin toned shades. While previous highlighters were limited to ivory and shell tones, that's going to change this year. Brands like Fenty and Makeup Revolution are already on board the tinted highlighter bandwagon, so it's going to be a good year to strobe our skin even in bronze, rose gold and champagne tones.
6. Large Lashes
2017 was all about defined brows and whimsical eyebrow trends. This year, the focus shifts slightly south to the eyelashes. Voluminous, fluttery eyelashes will be a beauty norm in 2018, so you better get ready with mascara wands, falsies or check in for an eyelash extension if you want to stay on-trend.
