Hours after a deadly car blast near Delhi's Red Fort killed nine people and left more than a dozen injured, first visuals of the suspect - the driver of the car that exploded - have emerged.

Dr Umar Mohammad is suspected to be the suicide bomber who was behind the wheels of the white Hyundai i20 car that exploded near the Red Fort on Monday evening. His mother and brothers have been detained for questioning in Jammu and Kashmir.

Security footage shows the car parked near the Red Fort for three hours with the driver inside, not exiting the car even for a second. When the car finally moved, it drove towards the traffic signal near the Metro Station, where it exploded around 6.52 pm.

Born in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on 24 February 1989, Umar Mohammad was a doctor at the Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad. He was allegedly a close aide of Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather and Dr Mujammil Shakil, the two doctors who were arrested on Monday in the investigations into a new "white collar" terror module busted by the police teams of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.

Investigators believe Umar escaped from Faridabad after he learnt that his associates had been arrested and 2,900 kg of explosives had been seized over the past few days. Sources say he "panicked" and triggered the blast near Red Fort, the 17th century Mughal-built monument that is one of the country's most popular tourist spots.

"Umar Mohammad and his associates used Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (ANFO) to carry out the attack. They placed a detonator in the car and carried out the terror attack in a crowded area near Red Fort," sources said.

How Delhi Blast Was Executed

CCTV video and images show the Hyundai i20 car entering Delhi from the Badarpur border. It came to Old Delhi via the Outer Ring Road. The vehicle - with the number plate HR 26CE7674 - was parked in the parking lot near the Red Fort for over three hours, entering at 3:19 pm and leaving around 6:30 pm, according to sources.

Investigations suggest the car changed hands multiple times. According to sources, the car was sold by one Salman, a resident of Gurugram to a man named Devender in Okhla in March 2025. Subsequently, Devender sold it to a man from Ambala.

From Ambala, the car reached Pulwama, where links between Aamir, Tariq and Umar Rashid emerged.

Investigations revealed that Aamir had given the car to Umar Mohammad.

Both Aamir and Tariq are being questioned by the Delhi Police team.

In one image, Aamir is seen holding the car key, probably taken after he bought the car.

Umar Mohammad's connection with doctors arrested from Faridabad over the past few days is being probed. Adeel Ahmad Rather, a doctor at Anantnag's Government Medical College (GMC), was arrested from a hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur on November 6 after CCTV footage showed him putting up posters praising the Jaish-e-Mohammed group in Srinagar.

Earlier this week, police raided the GMC Anantnag and found an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from Adil's locker. He was charged under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The raids led to the recovery of 2,900 kg of explosives and arms in Faridabad - which Adil reportedly stored with another doctor, identified as Muzammil Shakeel - who was also arrested on November 10.

Dr Shaheen Shahid, a woman doctor was arrested as part of the same module as Dr Shakeel. A rifle and live cartridges were recovered from her car, say sources.

Dr Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed was arrested by the Gujarat ATS for allegedly plotting the Ricin terror attack. He allegedly conducted a recce of the office in Lucknow of the RSS or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideological mentor of the BJP, and crowded markets in the city.
