J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said he is "deeply anguished" by the "loss of precious lives due to an extremely tragic accidental blast" at the Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar.

"My condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for speedy recovery of the injured. The government stands in solidarity with the families, friends, and loved ones of the departed. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected. I've ordered a probe to ascertain the cause of the accidental explosion," his office posted on X.

Days after a powerful explosion in Delhi killed 13 people, newly surfaced CCTV footage has captured its impact inside the Red Fort Metro Station.

The one-minute clip shows a man eating at a food counter and people walking inside the metro station. Within seconds, a loud boom and tremors were heard, causing people to panic. The violent tremors indicated the powerful force of the explosion. People began rushing out of the area in fear, while a police officer could be seen guiding them.

Two MBBS doctors have been detained from Haryana's Nuh for questioning, One of them studied in China and recently interned at Al-Falah University.

The police said he was picked up after alleged conversations with terror suspects.

The Nuh district remains under intensive surveillance; five people - three MBBS doctors, a fertiliser seller and an imam - were taken into custody last week.

Agencies suspect ammonium nitrate used in the blast may have been procured from Nuh (Mewat).

J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take stock of the situation post the Nowgam police station explosion. They are expected to visit the blast site as well and will be briefed about the unfortunate incident.

Nalin Prabhat said that the building of the police station has been "severely damaged". 

He also said that adjacent buildings too have been affected.

"The extent is being ascertained. The cause for this unfortunate incident is being inquired into," the J&K top cop said.

Nalin Prabhat said that a State Investigation Agency official, three Forensic Science Laboratory officials, two crime wing officials, two revenue officials, and a tailor who was associated with the team were among those killed.

He also said that 27 police personnel, two revenue officials and three civilians have received injuries.

"Owing to the unstable and sensitive nature of the recovery, it was being handled with utmost caution. However, during the same, an accidental explosion took place at about 11:20 PM on Friday. Any other speculation into the cause of this incident is unnecessary," he told reporters.

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat confirms nine people have died in a blast at the Nowgam police station.

Addressing reporters this morning, he also said that three civilians are among those who were injured in the explosion.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday afternoon said it cracked an inter-state and transnational "white collar" terror module.

It said it also seized 2,900 kilograms of explosive substances and arrested eight people, including three doctors - Adeel Ahmad Rather, Muzammil Shakeel, and Shaheen Saeed - linked to Al-Falah University in Faridabad.

Hours later, an explosion occurred in a car at a red light near the iconic Red Fort in Delhi, killing 13 people and injuring more than 20 others.

Tuesday morning, the name of another doctor from Jammu and Kashmir, Umar Nabi, emerged, with sources saying that he was driving the Hyundai i20 car that exploded.

Sources in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the "terrorist incident", said the seizure of the chemical used in bomb-making may have triggered a panic situation for the suspect and compelled him to relocate.

A video showed fire crews battling flames as heavy smoke rose from the blast site. Massive debris was also seen on the ground, with multiple vehicles on fire.

Body parts were reportedly thrown in neighbouring houses about 300 metres away. Some residents more than 15 kilometres away also said they felt the explosion.

At least nine people were killed and 29 others were injured after a huge pile of confiscated explosives stored at a police station in Nowgam near Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar went off on Friday night.

Most of those killed were policemen and forensic team officials, who were examining the explosives.

The blast occurred while they were handling the explosive material that had been brought from Haryana's Faridabad recently.

It was the Nowgam police station that cracked the case of the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed's posters in various locations of the area.

These posters exposed the terror module in which radicalised highly-qualified professionals were involved. The discovery led to the recovery of massive explosive material and the arrest of several terror doctors.

In October, one of the arrested doctors, Adeel Ahmad Rather, was seen putting up these posters that warned of big attacks on security forces and "outsiders" in Kashmir. His arrest on October 27 uncovered a sinister network, which was later found to be behind the blast near Red Fort in Delhi that claimed 13 lives earlier this week.
