Goa's multiple murders solved?

Panaji: With the two men arrested in Mumbai and brought here Saturday confessing to committing three murders, the Goa Police said they had solved seven of the eight murders which rocked the state Oct 12-14.

Officials said Chandrakant Talwar, 35, and Syron Rodrigues, 20, arrested Friday in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old girl Oct 12, had also confessed to murdering two more women and burning their bodies.

"They were arrested in connection with the minor girl's murder. But they have also confessed to murdering and burning two other women in other parts of Goa," a police officer said.

"They have stated some reasons, which need corroboration," the official said.

With this confession, police claim that they have accounted for seven of the eight murders which took place within 72 hours.

Four people were arrested Thursday in connection with a multiple murder when four rag pickers, including a woman and two minor children were killed and their bodies thrown into a creek which runs through the city.

All eight corpses were found within a 30 km radius of the capital and had triggered panic in the state.
